Browse our full electric scooter Melbourne range, from short-hop commuters through to performance models built for longer rides. Our Melbourne store is open for test rides and in-person advice. Victorian riding rules, local route notes and servicing details all sit below the grid.
Victorian rules for e-scooters
Private e-scooters are legal on Victorian roads and paths within set limits, and those limits have shifted more than once. Rather than quote figures that might be out of date by the time you read this, we point you to the current official Victorian government guidance for speed caps, device speed and weight limits, helmet rules, alcohol and phone rules, and where you can and can't ride. Check the current Victorian Government e-scooter rules before your first ride, and check again if it's been a while since you rode. Helmets are required, passengers aren't allowed, and rules for footpaths, bike lanes and shared paths differ from the road rules that apply to cars.
Our Melbourne store and what you can do there
The Melbourne store is the best place to work out which scooter actually suits you. Come in for a test ride, talk through your route with a technician, and get a feel for deck size, handlebar height and weight before you commit. We'll walk you through wheel size, suspension, motor set-up and payload against the trip you actually make, not the trip you might make one day. Click and collect is available if you already know what you want. Confirm current address and trading hours on our store locator before travelling in.
Free assembly and safety check on every scooter
Every scooter bought from Scooter Hut is assembled and safety-checked by our in-house technicians before it leaves us. That covers tyre pressure and condition, brake setup and pad wear, the folding mechanism and stem lock, throttle and controller response, lights, and firmware where the model supports it. You collect a scooter that's ready to ride, not a box with instructions.
Servicing, repairs and warranty
Our Melbourne technicians handle servicing, authorised warranty repairs and general fixes across the brands we carry. As a certified dealer for Segway, InMotion, Kaabo, Pure Electric and others, we can process warranty claims directly rather than sending you back to the manufacturer.
New scooters include a 12-month limited warranty for eligible manufacturing defects. Refurbished scooters carry a 3-month warranty. Wear items, water damage, misuse and unauthorised repairs are excluded, so read the full terms before you ride. Scooter Hut has been operated by Flux Motion Pty Ltd under new ownership since 1 July 2025, and warranty scope differs for purchases made before and after that date. If you need parts between services, our scooter maintenance parts range covers most common jobs.
Choosing a scooter for a Melbourne commute
Start with distance and terrain. Top speed is usually the wrong first question. We've tested over 150 e-scooters in the range, and the biggest number on the spec sheet rarely matches the best scooter for the actual trip.
For a short flat run under 5km, a lightweight model like the INMOTION Air handles the trip and folds neatly on a tram. For a 10 to 15km inner-suburb commute, the INMOTION S1 gives you range in reserve so you're not charging every night. For longer rides or mixed terrain, the Kaabo Mantis 10 Plus V2 sits in the sweet spot between range and portability. Browse the full commuter electric scooters range, and treat quoted range and speed as manufacturer estimates. Rider weight, hills and temperature all change the real number.
Riding on and across tram tracks
Tram-track grooves can catch narrow scooter tyres when the wheel crosses at a shallow angle. Slow down before reaching the tracks, keep the scooter upright and cross as close to a right angle as traffic conditions safely allow. Avoid sharp steering or braking while the tyres are on the rails. If you cannot cross safely, dismount and walk the scooter across. Wet steel rails and nearby painted markings can be especially slippery.
Have a look at our electric scooters with suspension if your regular route crosses Swanston, Elizabeth or St Kilda Road.
Riding in Melbourne's wet weather
Braking distances grow in the rain, painted lines and tram tracks turn slick, and visibility drops. Slow earlier, brake gently, and check your electric scooter tyres and tubes for tread and pressure before wet-season riding. Front and rear lights matter more than you'd think in Melbourne drizzle. IP ratings indicate splash and light-rain resistance, not waterproofing, and water damage isn't covered under warranty. Avoid standing water. After a wet ride, switch the scooter off and wipe it down with a dry or lightly damp cloth in accordance with the manufacturer’s cleaning instructions. Do not hose or pressure-wash it.
Hills in the inner north and east
Climbs through Clifton Hill, Fitzroy North, Kew, Hawthorn and Camberwell will expose an underpowered scooter fast. Rider weight, gradient and battery state all knock range and top speed down on a climb. A single-motor commuter is lighter to carry and cheaper to run. A dual-motor setup like the Kaabo Mantis 10 Plus V2 holds speed better on sustained hills. The trade-off is real weight when you fold it and higher energy use, so match the scooter to how often you actually climb.
