NEW SOUTH WALES E-SCOOTER LAWS

Can you ride e-scooters legally in NSW? 

Riding personal e-scooters remains illegal on roads and road-related areas, including footpaths, shared paths, and bicycle lanes. However, you can use them on private property.

You can also ride a shared e-scooter in trial sites in some parts of NSW.

Footpath - Not Allowed

Shared Path - 10 KM/H (shared e-scooters, only in specified trial sites)

Bike Lane - 20 KM/H (shared e-scooters, only in specified trial sites)

Road - 20 KM/H(shared e-scooters, only in specified trial sites)

Minimum Age - 16 y/o

NORTHERN TERRITORY E-SCOOTER LAWS

Can you ride e-scooters legally in the Northern Territory? 

Riding personal e-scooters remains illegal on roads and road-related areas, including footpaths, shared paths, and bicycle lanes. However, you can use them on private property.

The NT government encourages the use of hired e-scooters instead.

 

Speed Limits

Footpath - 15 KM/H (hired e-scooters)

Shared Path -15 KM/H (hired e-scooters)

Bike Lane -15 KM/H (hired e-scooters)

Road - Only allowed for a distance of less than 50 m if there is an obstruction on a footpath, nature strip, or shared path, or it is impracticable to travel on the adjacent area
