Segway Ninebot ES2 Review Video

At Scooter Hut, we thoroughly test every electric scooter we sell. That way we can guarantee that we only stock the very best scooters on the market.

In this video were are testing out the super popular Segway Ninebot ES2 Scooter.

The Segway Ninebot ES2 is easily the most recognisable electric scooters thanks to its sleek design. In this video we will put the Ninebot to the test to see if this scooter is the one for you.

With a fast charge time of 3.5 hours, the full battery of the Segway will travel a maximum of 25 km and is capable of a top speed of 25 km/h. When it comes to carrying the scooter, this one weighs 12.5kg and will carry a maximum rider load of 100kg.

One of the standout features on the Segway is the solid tyres, this means you will never get a flat or need to top up the air. The scooter is equipped with a 7.5” tyre on the rear and a 8” which is wrapped around the 300W front motor. All the braking is also handled by the front motor, which puts power back to the battery every time you brake, but there is also a rear step fender to help you stop a bit faster.

With three power modes to choose from and shock absorbers in the front and rear, the ride is both smooth and safe. Keep an eye on your speed, battery and mode with the fully featured display and be seen at night with the bright LED head and tail lights. The ES2 also features colour changing ambient lighting under the deck which you can personalise by connecting to the Segway app on your smartphone.

Before folding the Segway Ninebot you will need to ensure that the kickstand is up, then simply push down on the folding tab with your foot to collapse the folding mechanism. The hook located on the stem will then clip into the rear wheel fender. You can then either pull the scooter like a trolley on the front wheel or pick it up to carry.

Riding the Segway is as fun as it is easy thanks to the user friendly controls. Push the power button once to turn on, click once to turn the lights on and off and click twice to switch speed modes. When you are ready to go, just push off and press down on the right thumb lever to accelerate and brake with the left thumb lever. Once you are done riding just push and hold the power button until the scooter turns off.

During our testing the Segway handled different terrains quite well despite having solid tyres, this was thanks to the shock absorbers which performed quite well on both smooth and rough surfaces. Acceleration felt responsive and the scooter was able to handle moderate hill climbs. We were able to reach the top speed of 25km/h and the Segway felt very stable when cruising at this speed. At night is when this scooter becomes even more fun to ride. We really enjoyed playing with the different colour combos of the ambient lights, these make riding in the dark feel a lot safer and they give a futuristic feel to the scooter.

The Segway Ninebot ES2 is a well built and designed electric scooter that is a lot of fun to ride. For a scooter to have so many features in this price range makes it great value too. The detailed display, solid tyres and ambient lights being three of our favourite features. We did notice however that the front electric brake took a bit longer to stop for heavier riders than other scooters with disc brakes did.

This is the perfect scooter for anyone looking for something reliable for their daily commute but also can be used for having a lot of fun cruising around on their days off.
