In another win for scooter and electric scooter riders in New South Wales and Sydney, Busways has introduced new rules allowing e-scooters & scooters onto Busway businesses in NSW.

New E Scooter Rules on Busway Buses in New South Wales

In New South Wales, from 1 October 2023, you can now bring an scooter or electric scooter onto any Busways Bus provided you fold the scooter and store it in the luggage rack.

It is important to note that e-scooters are still technically illegal to ride in New South Wales on public roads, read more about New South Wales electric scooter rules.

Exceptions on Rail Replacement Services
There are slightly different scooter & e-scooter rules which apply if the bus you are boarding from Busway is a replacement bus for a rail service.
According to Busway, if the bus you are boarding is a replacement rail service you can bring a scooter or e-scooter onto the bus folded or unfolded.
